A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, David E. Keith left a heritage in our county that makes his family proud. He was a realtor, appraiser and insurance agent by trade since 1960, he loved his customers and loved his work. He was an excellent business man with excellent customer service skills who had helped countless families find their home, get the appraisal they needed, and then, supplied all their insurance needs from one location. In business for the past 55 plus years at Harrison Real Estate Agency Inc. in turn making it the oldest Real Estate and Independent Insurance Agency in Wayne County. David, or “Nubbin” as we fondly knew him, was an active member of his community as well and had been a member of the Jesup Elks Lodge, the Jesup Jaycees, the National Association of Realtors, the Georgia Association of Realtors and was a member and past president of the Local Real Estate Board. Nubbin was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Jesup where he attended the Golden Rulers Sunday School Class. When he wasn’t working or participating in community events, Nubbin was usually fishing. It has been said that when the fish weren’t biting, Nubbin was catchin’ them and although he spent a lot of time fishing, family was always the number one priority in Nubbin’s life. Our community’s sports programs also took a priority in his life, a close seat to fishing. Watching those boys play ball after he retired made him happy, but his love for sports began long ago. He always enjoyed playing ball as a kid, and following the next Wayne County athlete was a passion of his. He supported the Home Run club and Touchdown club in some form for many years, and he always attended any sporting event his children and grandchildren were involved in. He has left a legacy in his agency, with children and grandchildren both following him in the business. He has taught us well, and we strive daily to apply his values to our work.
